An Absolute MUST READ

Via Realclearpolitics.com, I read an article that I think is an absolute must read. Steven Malanga in the indispensable City Journal wrote "The Real Engine of Blue America." The sub heading is "There are no blue states -- only blue cities, where tax eaters rule."

Malanga argues that unionized government workers and those private sector workers who are dependent on government spending are the backbone of the Democratic party. He does a nice job of outlining the massive explosion of funding that resulted from the war on poverty and the interest groups which sprang up to insure that the gravy train never ends. These groups have learned that their real power goes far beyond bargaining for their members, but rather to insuring the election of politicians committed to expanding the spending that supports their members.

A liberal I know said yesterday "I wish the republicans quit saying that I'm whining. How dare they say that. I'm not a whiner. I just hate George Bush" and "Well Bush wouldn't have won if he hadn't gotten 60,000 more votes in Ohio than Kerry." (What?) That's just a stupid thing to say. If that's not whining, I don't know what is.

Stan,
If I can learn how to comment, you can learn how to hyperlink! I had to set up my own blog in order to comment on your site. I am not sure why they make it so difficult.

For my blog I chose the name: A Good Defense Beats a Good Offense. I thought you would like that.

So true, there are no blue states - only blue cities. I live in Philadelphia and it is BLUE (deep, dark, blue) and it's all unions and the Dems run the city and know how to cheat on the elections with voter fraud (all by the liberal Dems). See John Street run, see John Street cheat, see John Street Lie about "the man" and "the republicans".

I am so sick of every city being in such bad shape and all with Democrat governments. If it wasn't for Philly (and all the corrupt unions and voter fraud) - then Pennsylvania would easily be a red state.

Hey Uncle Stan,
This is your wonderful perfect neice, who's never been in a car accident in her life, much less letting a 13-year-old drive her daddy's truck into a telephone poll...
I, as a daily blogger for over a year (though not on blogspot... xanga), would like to say that I find it only slightly disturbing that my dad and two uncles have a blog... Although, I would like to tell you that I linked to you on my own... If you get any comments from politically inclined teenagers they're probably my friends.
Anyway, have a great day, tell everybody I say hi! ~Laura

The last line says "The tax-eaters’ party has seized control of many of America’s cities; now it is trying to make the next big leap." The author left out a very obvious fact. They have also gotten enough control to keep the Republicans from attempting to stop their growth. Because the Republicans want to be re-elected too! Doing what's good for the country is secondary.

Thanks for the link LarryW
