The cost of the filibuster

Opinion Journal has a piece by Manuel Miranda on the extent to which filibustering judicial nominees has already hurt Democrats in Senate elections in 2002 and 2004.

In some ways I almost hope that they decide to try to bork Judge Roberts.

I'm afraid they're starting to see the light - at least a majority of the Democrats. They are starting to distance themselves from the extreme liberal wing of the party. Those in their comfort zones of reelection may still be nuts, but those with ambitions (i.e. the Hildabeast) will try to portray themselves in or near the center.
